Woh meri chin-e-jabin se ghum-e-pinhaan samjha,
raaz-e-maktoob ba-be-rabti-e-unwaan samjha.

Yak alif besh nahin saiqal-e-aaina hunuz,
chaak karta hun main jab se ki garebaan samjha.

Sharh-e-asbaab-e-giriftaari-e-khaatir mat poochh,
iss qadar tang hua dil ki main zindaan samjha.

Bad-gumaani ne na chaaha usey sargarm-e-khiraam,
rukh pe har qatra araq deeda-e-hairaan samjha.

Ijz se apne ye jaana ki woh bad-khoo hoga,
nabz-e-khas se tapish-e-shola-e-sozaan samjha.

Safar-e-ishq mein ki zof ne raahat-talabi,
har qadam saaye ko main apne shabistaan samjha.

Tha gurezaan mizha-e-yaar se dil taa dum-e-marg,
daf-e-paikaan-e-qaza iss qadar aasaan samjha.

Dil diya jaan ke kyon uss ko wafadaar ‘asad’
ghalati kii ki jo kaafir ko musalmaan samjha.

Hum ne wehshat-kada-e-bazm-e-jahaan mein jun shama,
shola-e-ishq ko apna sar-o-saamaan samjha. !!
