Mein khawhishon ki l’ey mein gaata chala gaya,

Mein khawhishon ki l’ey mein gaata chala gaya,
Yu’n zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya,
Har saans se hua marne marne ka hauslaa,
Jeene ka khauf hum ko satata chala gaya,
Jis jis tarah bhi waqt ne kiya hum se nibah,
Wese hi waqt hum ko banata chala gaya,
Mere qalam mein us ka koi lamss tha chupa,
Woh harf harf mein jo samaata chala gaya,
Thi us ki aarzu ke mein chota nazar aaon,
Woh fasilon ko aur barhaata chala gaya,
Barsat mein kabhi, Kabhi sardi ki raat mein,
Mausam koi bhi aya, Rulata chala gaya,
Lehron ke zarf ne unhe saahil pe aa rakha,
Khat us ke pharr daley, bahata chala gaya,
Tahir ko tu ne somp di purkaar-e-zindagi,
Woh daayer’on mein jis ko ghumata chala gay..
