Kisi ko de ke dil koi nawaa-sanj-e-fughaaN kyuN ho?? ??

Kisi ko de ke dil koi nawaa-sanj-e-fughaaN kyuN ho?? ??
Na ho jab dil hi sine mein to phir muNh main zubaan kyun ho

Wafaa kaisi? kahan ka ishq? jab sar phoRna Thehra
To phir ae sangdil tera hi sang-e-aastaaN kyuN ho?

Yehi hai aazmaanaa to satana kis ko kehte haiN?
Adu ke ho lye jab tum to mera imtihaaN kyuN ho?

Ye keh sakte ho “Hum dil main nahin hain?” par ye batlao!
K jab dil mein tum hi tum ho to aankhon se nihaaN kyuN ho?

Qafas mein mujh se roodad-e-chaman kehte na dar humdum
Giri hai jis pe kal bijli woh mera aashiyaaN kyuN ho?

Nikala chahta hai kaam kya taa’noN se tu Ghalib?
Tere be-mehar kehne se wo tujh par mehrbaaN kyuN ho?

(Mirza Ghalib)
