Jab kabhi phoolon ne khushbuu ki tijaarat ki hai,

Jab kabhi phoolon ne khushbuu ki tijaarat ki hai,
Pate pate ne havaaon se shikayat ki hai,
Yuun laga jaise koi itr fazaa mei ghul jaye,
Jab kisi bache ne quraan ki tilaawat ki hai,
Jaye-namaazon ki tarah noor mein ujlaayi sehar,
Raat bhar jaise farishton ne ibaadat ki hai,
Sar uthaaye theen bohat surkh havaa mei phir bhi,
Hum ne palkon ke charaaghon ki hifaazat ki hai,
Mujhe tuufaan-e-havaadis se daraane walo,
Haadson ne to mere haath pe baiyt ki hai,
Aaj ik daana-e-gandum ke bhi haqdaar nahin,
Hum ne sadiyon inhiin khaiton pe hukuumat ki hai,
Yeh zaruuri tha ke hum dekhte qilon ke jalaal,
Umr bhar hum ne mazaaron ki ziyaarat ki hai..
