Gaye dinon ka suraagh le kar, kidar say aaya kidar geya woh,

Gaye dinon ka suraagh le kar, kidar say aaya kidar geya woh,
Ajeeb maanuuss ajnabi tha, mujhe to hairaan kar geya woh,
Bas aik moti si chhabb dikha kar, bas aik meethi see dhun suna kar,
Sitara-e-sham ban ke aaya, ba-rang-e-khwab-e-sehr geya woh,
Khushi ki rut ho ke gham ka mausam, nazar usse dhoondti hai har damm,
Woh buu-e-gul tha ke naghma-e-jaan, mere to dil mein utar geya woh,
Nah abb woh yaadon ka charhta darya, na abb fursaton ki udaas barkhaa,
Younhi kassak hai zara si dil mein, jo zakhm gehra tha bhar geya woh,
Shikasta–paa raah mein khara hoon, gaye dinon ko bula raha hoon,
Jo qaafla mera humsafar tha, misal-e-gard-e-safar geya woh,
Woh mai-kade ko jagane wala, who raat ki neend urrane wala,
Yeh aaj kya uss ke jee main aayi, ke shaam hote hi ghar gaya woh,
Woh hijr ki raat ka sitara, who humnafas, hum-sukhan hamara,
Sadaaa rahey naam uska pyara, suna hai kal raat mar gaya woh,
Woh jiss kay shaane pe haath rakh kar, safar kiya tu ne manzilon ka,
Teri gali say na jane kyon aaj, sir jhukaaye guzar geya woh,
Woh raat ka be-navaa musafir, woh tera shayar, woh tera Nasir,
Teri gali tak to jaate dekha, phir na jane kidhar geya woh..
