Beautiful Black Men - Poem by Nikki Giovanni

(With compliments and apologies to all not mentioned by name)

i wanta say just gotta say something
bout those beautiful beautiful beautiful outasight
black men
with they afros
walking down the street
is the same ol danger
but a brand new pleasure

sitting on stoops, in bars, going to offices
running numbers, watching for their whores
preaching in churches, driving their hogs
walking their dogs, winking at me
in their fire red, lime green, burnt orange
royal blue tight tight pants that hug
what i like to hug

jerry butler, wilson pickett, the impressions
temptations, mighty mighty sly
don't have to do anything but walk
on stage
and i scream and stamp and shout
see new breed men in breed alls
dashiki suits with shirts that match
the lining that compliments the ties
that smile at the sandals
where dirty toes peek at me
and i scream and stamp and shout
for more beautiful beautiful beautiful
black men with outasight afros

Uske Deedar Ko Aaj Ankhen Yun Taras Rahi Hain, ,
Jaise Hasrat Ho Banjar Zameen Ko Muddat Se Ek Bars

Neend Se Kiya Shikwa Karun Main

Qasoor To Us Chehray Ka Hai Jo Mujhe Sonay Nahi DetaNeend Se Kiya

Mujh Mein Ab Mera Je Nahi Lgta..!!
Or Sitam Ye Ke Mera Ji Hi Nahi..!!

Haye wO ShOuQ JO Nahi Th

Hum Teri AaaS Mein yun BetheY Hain...
Jaisy Laa iLaaj ko intezar ho M0ut ka...

Khud Pe Beeti To Rote Ho, Tarapte Ho Sisakte Ho

Hum Ne Jo Kia Tha Wo Kya Ishq Nahi Tha...?

sukut-e-shab se ek naghma suna hai
wahi kanon mein ab tak gunjta hai
ghanimat hai ki apne gham-z

Tum aaye ho na shab-e-intizaar guzri hai,
Talaash main hai sehar baar baar guzri hai,
Junoon main

Meri Ghaflaton ki bhi Had Nahi,
Teri Rehmaton ki Bhi Had Nahi,
Na Meri Khata ka Shumar hai,

Dukh fasana nahi k tujh se kahain
Dil bhi mana nahi k tujh se kahain,
Ek tu harf aashna tha magar

Thou who shalt stop, where Thames' translucent wave
Shines a broad Mirror thro' the shadowy Cave;

Jaane wale teri yaadon ko bhula kar dekha,
Loh-e-dil se tera har naqsh mittaa kar dekha,
Saari dun

Samajhtay Thay Magar Phir Bhi Na Rakhi Dooriyaa'n Hum Ne...
Chiraghoon Ko Jalaanay Mein Jalaa Li U

I dreamed that dead, and meditating,
I lay upon a grave, or bed,
(at least, some cold and close-bu

Tery Aazad bandon kin a ye duniyaa na vo duniya

Yahan marny ki pabaddi vahan jine ki pabandi

Saamne Us K Badal Jaate Hain...

Lafz Hain Saare Munafiq Mere...

O never say that I was false of heart,
Though absence seem'd my flame to qualify:
As easy might I

Beqaraari si beqaraari hai,
Wasl hai aur firaaq taari hai.

Jo guzaari na ja saki hum se,
hum ne

Mita De Apni Hasti Ko Agar Khuch Mrtaba Chahee
Ke Dana Khak Me Milkar Gul O Gulzar Banta Hea

Ye Jo Sargashta Se Phirtay Hain Kitaabon Waalay
In Se Mat Mil Ke Inhain Rog Hain Khwaabon Waalay

On the fair green hills of Rio
There grows a fearful stain:
The poor who come to Rio
And can't go
