Bazzm-e-takallufaat sajaane main reh geya,

Bazzm-e-takallufaat sajaane main reh geya,
Main zindagi ke naaz uthaane main reh geya,
Taaseer ke liye jahan tehreef ki gayi,
Ik jholl bas wahin pe fasaane main reh geya,
Sab mujh pe mohr -e-jurm lagaate chale gaye,
Main sab ko apne zakham dikhaane main reh geya,
Khud haadsa bhi maut pe us ki tha dam-ba-khud,
Woh dusron ki jaan bachaane mein reh geya,
Ab ehl-e-kaarvaaan pe lagaata hai tohmaten,
Woh hamsafar jo heelay bahaane main reh geya,
Woh waqt ka jahaz tha karta lihaaz kya,
Main doston se haath milaane main reh geya,
Sunta nahin hai muft jahan baat bhi koi,
Main khaali haath aese zamaane main reh geya,
Bazar-e-zindagi se qazaa le gayi mujhe,
Yeh daur mere daam lagaane main reh geya,
Yeh bhi hai ek kaar-e-numayan ‘hafiz’ ka,
Kya saadaa-loh kaise zamaane main reh geya..
