Akhri chand din december ke,
Har baras hi giraan guzarte hain,
Khawhishon ke nigaar-khanay se,
Kese kese gumaan guzarte hain,
Raftagaan ke bikharte saayon ki,
Aik mehfil si dil main sajti hai,
Phone ki diary ke safhon se,
Kitne number pukaarte hain mujhe,
Jin se marboot be’nawaa ghanti,
Ab faqat mere dil main bajti hai,
Kis qadar pyare pyare naamon pr,
Reengti bad’numaa lakeeren si,
Meri aankhon main phail jati hain,
Dooriyan daayere banati hain,
Phir december ke aakhri din hain,
Har barass ki tarah se ab ke bhi,
Diary ik sawaal karti hai,
Kya khabar is baras ke akhir tak,
Mere in be’chiraagh safhon se,
Kitne hi naam katt gaye hon ge,
Kitne number bikhar ke raston main,
Gard-e-maazi se att gaye hon ge,
Khaak ki dheriyon ke daman main,
Kitne tufaan simatt gaye hon ge,
Har december main sochta hon main,
Aik din is tarah bhi hona hai,
Rang ko roshni main khona hai,
Apne apne gharon main rakhi hui,
Diary dost dekhte hon ge,
Un ki ankhon ke khaak-daanon main,
Aik sehraa sa phailta ho ga,
Aur kuch benishaan safhon se,
Naam mera bhi katt geya hoga..
