ab k barish mai tu ye kar zian na hona

اب کے بارش میں تو یہ کار زیاں ہونا ہی تھا
اپنی کچی بستیوں کو بے نشاں ہونا ہی تھا

کس کے بس میں تھا ہوا کی وحشتوں کو روکنا
برگ گل کو خاک شعلے کو دھواں ہونا ہی تھا

جب کوئی سمت سفر طے تھی نہ حد رہ گزر
اے مرے رہ رو سفر تو رائیگاں ہونا ہی تھا

مجھ کو رکنا تھا اسے جانا تھا اگلے موڑ تک
فیصلہ یہ اس کے میرے درمیاں ہونا ہی تھا

چاند کو چلنا تھا بہتی سیپیوں کے ساتھ ساتھ
معجزہ یہ بھی تہہ آب رواں ہونا ہی تھا

میں نئے چہروں پہ کہتا تھا نئی غزلیں سدا
میری اس عادت سے اس کو بدگماں ہونا ہی تھا

شہر سے باہر کی ویرانی بسانا تھی مجھے
اپنی تنہائی پہ کچھ تو مہرباں ہونا ہی تھا

اپنی آنکھیں دفن کرنا تھیں غبار خاک میں
یہ ستم بھی ہم پہ زیر آسماں ہونا ہی تھا

بے صدا بستی کی رسمیں تھیں یہی محسنؔ مرے
میں زباں رکھتا تھا مجھ کو بے زباں ہونا ہی تھ
