Ericsson Consumer Lab has been studying people's behaviours and values, as well as how they act and think about ICT goods and services, for almost two decades. Ericsson ConsumerLab provides unrivalled market and consumer trend analysis. 5G pacesetters – the leading communications service providers (CSPs) now pushing global supply for 5G consumers – are three times more likely to retain clients and nearly twice as likely to create average revenue per user (ARPU) and mobile services profits when compared to other CSPs. These are some of the findings from Ericsson Consumer Lab's most recent 5G study.

According to the study, 5G maturity is divided into four stages: People that are just getting started on their 5G adventure are known as 5G Explorers. CSPs with 5G potential who have satisfied customers as a consequence of effective 4G networks but have not invested much in upgrading 5G networks and offerings. CSPs considered as market rivals dreaming big with 5G while aiming to boost customer delight are known as 5G Aspirants. 5G Pacesetters are those who are further advanced in terms of establishing the standard for exceptional 5G availability, efficiency, and originality, but still have potential for improvement.

Customers consider 5G Pacesetters, one of five CSPs studied, as industry leaders in the 5G marketplace, however they are neither market share leaders or champions in their respective marketplaces. They have the greatest net producer score (NPS) in their markets and are driving growth by aggregating a variety of consumer 5G services, such as cloud gaming, realistic video (AR/VR), and 5G steady wireless connectivity.

While established 5G markets in North-East Asia and North America account for the bulk of CSPs in the 5G Pacesetter category, Europe makes up one-third of the total.
