Sony wants to get a foothold in the growing mobile gaming market by introducing controllers that are compatible with smartphones.

The information was gleaned through a patent application that depicted a smartphone-attachable controller comparable to the PlayStation 4.

In the patent graphic above, it appears like the controller may be split in half and then reattached when you connect your smartphone to the device. According to rumours, the controller will be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth and would be held in place magnetically.

With this controller, Sony is clearly attempting to tap into the burgeoning mobile gaming sector, which is especially strong in places like China, where esports are quite popular.
